Café Coffee Day outlets to be Wi-Fi enabled
Bangalore | January 17, 2005 9:13:10 PM IST

BANGALORE: Café Coffee Day, India’s largest chain of coffee cafés has tied up with Microsense to enable Café Coffee Day customers to access Wi-Fi networks at several outlets across India.

Microsense has already completed a national rollout of Wi-Fi services at 50 Café Coffee Day outlets in Bangalore, Mumbai, New Delhi and Chennai and by March 2005, at least 100 Café Coffee Day outlets will be totally wi-fi enabled so customers can connect to the internet while having their beverage. In a phase wise manner, most of the other cites where Café Coffee Day has outlets will also be wi-fi enabled.

“This is the first nationwide rollout of Public Access Hot Spots in India and is likely to usher in a new trend in mobile computing. Microsense will operate the service end to end’, N.V. Krishna, Director, Microsense said.

“The Wi-Fi service will feature plug and play functionality, VPN Support, and ‘always-on’ connectivity. The service will be provided through post-paid and pre-paid access accounts supported by a central authentication and billing platform, developed and operated by Microsense.

The PIN allocated allows access for users from any of the cafés where the service has been enabled across India.” he added.
